Normal Meter Pricing

If you do not have a Smart-Meter or if your hydro utility is not utilizing time-of-use billing, you are charged the same rate regardless of when you consume your electricity. The RPP rate has two price tiers. The price you pay depends on how much electricity you use. In the summer, the higher price is used when you consume more than 600kWh of hydro in a given month. In the winter months, the higher electricity price is charged for consumption above 1,000 kWh.
First 600 Kilowatt Hours per month: 7.7 cents/kWh
Above 600 kWh: 8.9 cents/kWh
Comparison of Time-of-Use Rates
Off-peak vs. Mid-peak vs. On-Peak electricity rates in Ontario
According to the Ontario Energy Board, the average household uses 2/3 of their electricity during off-peak hours with the remainder split between mid-peak and off-peak.
This results in a blended rate of 11 cents/kWh
